5 Things You Don’t Need in Your Wedding

I get it. We all want a perfect wedding. We all want the best but not all of us have the budget, right? Story of my life, just the opposite of the Ariana Grande song; in my case it would be more like “I see it, I like it, I check the price, I put it back”.

Well, just because we all want the same I am going to give you a few ideas of things that you can cut from your wedding and that hopefully, will save you a few bucks in order to pay for something else. Do you have pen and paper ready? Keep reading!

1. Two dresses.

In the last few years, it seems to be a trend that my brides get a dress for the ceremony and another one for the reception. I believe this trend comes from the royal weddings in Europe, where princesses do this all the time on the day of their wedding. Believe me, I am all about high-end designer dresses. I love photographing them and despite what you might think, we all want to look like a princess on our wedding day! They are a gorgeous piece of art. But in the end, they will end up in a box. Stick to your budget and to one dress to start with and don’t go crazy until you have figured the first one out!

2. A big bridal party.

More people=more money. It is that simple. Even for your photographer, more people mean more time taking pictures, and if you have hired your photographer by the hour, having a big bridal party will only add up to the final bill.

3. Cake for everyone.

Under my experience as a wedding photographer, it is getting more and more popular having a cake just for the couple and then a dessert bar for the rest of the guests. Cakes are expensive and everyone has a different taste. Having a little sweet bar for your guests will save you money that you can maybe direct to pay for something else, and, as a bonus, get a cake that you and your fiancée actually really like!

4. All the jewelry in the world.

You should be the only gem that day. Your ring should be there I get it, but you don’t need to be covered in bling to make your day incredible. Your mom earrings can work as your “something borrowed”, and your ring will do the rest.

5. Entertainment for everybody.

You are the main act. Your family and your friends are there for you. They don’t need a concert, a magician or any other sort of show during your wedding. They want to see you, eat good food and catch up with people they haven’t seen in a long time. Save your money and don’t think that you need to entertain them. They will be just fine.

Now go below and tell me if I am forgetting anything. Any ideas past brides? Anything you used that you realized it was a waste of money after the wedding? Please write it below and let’s help new brides avoid mistakes!
