Wedding dress shopping: how to make it fun

So he proposed, and you said yes. Then you booked your church, venue and photographer. You told friends and family and decided on your bridal party, now what? Let’s learn a little bit about: Wedding dress shopping: how to make it fun.

If you know me or if you have been following me for a while, you probably already know I am a wedding dress freak. I own around 20 wedding dresses myself and I am always in the hunt for a new one. I just love them. When I was a bride, the part that I was most excited about during the planning was, of course, going wedding dress shopping with my mom and sister and I enjoyed every single bit of it, that’s why I thought about writing a post about it for all those brides that, like me, can’t wait to do it!

During wedding dress shopping, don’t forget to:

Have open mind.

Don’t set yourself in one style. I don’t know how many brides have come to me telling me “I thought I wanted something simple and ended up with the absolute opposite dress!” Well, this happened to me too. The dresses you see online might not look the same once you put them on your body, or once you see them and feel them. Don’t set yourself on one style and let the stylist suggest other options. You will be surprised of what you might end up with! Plus… it is fun!

Try everything.

You are only going to do this ONCE! Enjoy it!!. I know everyone has a budget but when in your life are you going to have the opportunity to wear a couple thousands of dollars on? Try everything, the cheap and expensive, the ugly and the cute, the weird and the sophisticated design! You won’t regret it.

Don’t bring an entire army with you.

More people might be too many people and you really don’t need 15 people voting up or down. 1 to 4 people are more than enough to enjoy the day with you and make a good memory from it. It can also be a very intimate moment for you and those closest to you.

Take pictures.

You will try so many dresses that won’t forget what they look like. Taking photos of each will help you remember and deciding which one looks best on you.

Have fun.

Bridal stores love brides. Let them pamper you. After all you are the bride and it is your wedding, so don’t be afraid to accept their attentions and little gifts. Wedding dress shopping is fun for everyone and I know for a fact how much bridal stores love to spoil their brides!I hope you have as much fun as I had when I was the bride, and if you are already a Solis Photography bride, I really expect you to text me a photo of the dress once you choose it so I can start dreaming of the beautiful pictures I am going to take!
