It was hot and it was very windy. But we made it work. Shooting this engagement session was not easy. South Dakota weather tried, once again, to ruin my session. But let me tell you: when a couple is as in love as this one not even wind can affect us!
We arrived to the Japanese Gardens around 6:30 pm. I have been looking forward to photograph Jessica and Matthew because they just had a baby and they were my last couple to photograph that is getting married in 2021. I was too afraid we were not going to have enough time. But the wait was totally worth it.
One of the things I love to experience with my couples is light. Looking for light while trying to fight the wind is not an easy task, but, as a wedding photographer in South Dakota, I have experience fighting these kinds of situations. I used the wind to our advantage and use the light on them as best as we could without scarifying the poses or their experience. I think I am safe to say that Jessica’s smile speaks by itself.
I had a blast with them. After a very pleasant conversation with Matt about our mutual love for poutine and making Jessica laugh as much as I could, we moved from one park to another and ended our session at Sertoma Park.
I can’t wait for their wedding. If you want to see more of this windy engagement session, keep scrolling. I promise you that by the end, you will also fall in love with Jess’ smile. Just like Matt and I did.
