A Spring Dream of Class and Style
I was so pleased to be invited to photograph Alisha and Scott’s spring wedding at The Canton Barn. If you have never seen it, this is a stunning venue that encapsulates the beauty of the Midwest perfectly. This place has a distinctive personality; the nature of the fields is incorporated into the construction of this 100+ year old real barn. Definitely one of the jewels of the state of South Dakota. Despite the wind and rain of the day, Alisha and Scott’s wedding looked gorgeous in this backdrop! They chose a theme with soft pinks and coral tones that complemented the venue, which features a giant nature area around it, perfect to take wedding photos!
Capturing the Wedding Preparations
The South Dakota spring weather made the couple moved their ceremony indoors. The reception took place inside too, but they got ready separately. Alisha, made her preparations in the bridal suite of the barn with her bridesmaids and her mom. It made the moments leading up to the marriage ceremony so much more meaningful. As a wedding photographer, seeing a bride getting ready with her girls always adds that bespoke element to the day.
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony
This was a family-centered wedding. Alisha and Scott got together with their loved ones and the background of the barn brought a very well balance mix of vintage, prestigious, and rustic environment to their event. Pay special attention here to the touch of Jennifer Savage and the work of The Flower Mill decorating everything!
Exploring the area around the Canton Barn
The breathtaking gardens of The Canton Barn served as the perfect backdrop for their bridal photos. As a wedding photographer, I highly suggest couples consider taking advantage of the moments before walking down the aisle! By doing your first look prior to the ceremony start time, we can capture intimate and meaningful images that will bring you joy for years to come. On top of that, it is an opportunity for you two lovebirds to spend some precious moments together on such an important day in your life.

The landscape surrounding the back patio makes a refined canvas to build your own dream ceremony (if the weather lets you of course!). The whole place is both tidy and sleek, a minimalist’s dream.
The Wedding
Alisha and Scott’s spring wedding at The Canton Barn was one for the books. The bride’s gorgeous gown from Bridal Gallery was accentuated by the exquisite and earthy atmosphere of the day. As she gracefully moved down the aisle, every eye in attendance fell upon her. Specially against the dimmed light of the Canton Barn, this bride truly stood out!
They celebrated their union with a wonderful reception animated by the people from DJ Jer and ended their night with a sparkler exit. Definitely the best way to say goodbye to a perfect day!
