Christa and Adam called in the middle of a pandemic because they wanted to talk about happier things. Specifically about their lakeside wedding. I was ready for it. After a year of delays, reschedules and drama thanks to COVID-19 that day I was more than happy to spend a good half an hour on the phone planning a wedding…
and what a wedding!
The Big Day
Christa told me that, even though they live in Arizona, Adam is very close to Iowa and the lake, specifically Okoboji Lake. He used to spend his summers there and when they talked about getting married the idea of a lake wedding seemed perfect.
However, they wanted someone very specific. Their wedding was going to be elegant, black tie and very, very classy so they wanted someone that fit an event like that with experience in film wedding photography. That’s how they ended up with a South Dakota wedding photographer like me.
And let me tell you, I fell in love with Christa instantly. She might the kindest person I have ever met, honestly. Adam loves her to pieces and the two of them planned the most gorgeous wedding I have ever seen, right next to the lake in Iowa.
Their venue, The Waterfront at the Bridges Bay Resort made the perfect backdrop. The weather was perfect for a September wedding and even though we were very close, nobody ended up in the water… so I am going to call that a huge win!
